These terms govern your use of the Merics website and application. Please read them before using the Service.
1. Who we are
Merics is an insurance broker registered in Lebanon, with offices at Centre Sodeco, Block B, 14th floor, Achrafieh, Beirut, Lebanon. This website and the Merics application (together, the « Service ») are operated by Merics.
2. What the Service does
The Service lets you request insurance quotes, compare available plans, subscribe to a policy, upload the supporting documents required to issue it, manage your policies and declare a claim. Merics acts as an intermediary between you and the insurance companies whose products are presented.
3. Quotes are indicative
A price displayed by the Service is an indication based on the information you provide. It does not constitute an offer of cover. Cover starts only once the insurance company has accepted the risk and the corresponding premium has been received. The insurer may request additional information, apply exclusions, or decline the risk.
4. Your account and your declarations
You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you declare and for the confidentiality of your credentials. Incomplete or inaccurate declarations may lead the insurer to reduce or refuse cover, or to void the policy. You must inform us of any change affecting a policy in force.
5. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a contract in order to use the Service.
6. Payments
Premiums may be paid through the payment providers offered in the Service. Payment details are handled by those providers; Merics does not store your card number. The amount, the currency and any fees are shown before you confirm a payment.
7. Communications, including WhatsApp
By providing your phone number and starting a conversation with us, you agree to receive messages from Merics on that number, including through WhatsApp, about your quotes, policies, claims and support requests. These messages are operational, not marketing, unless you have separately opted in to marketing.
You can stop receiving WhatsApp messages at any time by replying STOP, by blocking the number in WhatsApp, or by writing to admin@app.merics.com. Stopping WhatsApp messages does not end your policy; we will then contact you by e-mail or telephone.
8. Documents you upload
You confirm that any document you upload is genuine and that you are entitled to share it. Identity documents are used solely to verify your identity, issue your policy, and meet our regulatory obligations.
9. Availability
We aim to keep the Service available at all times but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be suspended for maintenance or for reasons outside our control.
10. Intellectual property
The Service, its content and its trademarks belong to Merics or to its partners. You may not copy, reproduce or exploit them without prior written consent.
11. Liability
Merics is liable for the brokerage services it provides. Claims handling and the payment of indemnities are the responsibility of the insurance company that issued the policy, in accordance with that policy’s terms and conditions. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under Lebanese law.
12. Changes
We may update these terms. The version published on this page, with the date shown above, is the one that applies. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by Lebanese law. Any dispute falls under the jurisdiction of the competent courts of Beirut, Lebanon, unless a mandatory rule provides otherwise.
