This policy explains what personal data Merics collects through its website and application, why we use it, who we share it with, and how long we keep it.
1. Who is responsible
Merics, insurance broker, Centre Sodeco, Block B, 14th floor, Achrafieh, Beirut, Lebanon, is responsible for the personal data processed through the Service. For any question about your data, contact admin@app.merics.com.
2. What we collect
- Identity and contact details: name, date of birth, nationality, e-mail address, postal address, telephone number.
- Information needed to quote and issue a policy: vehicle, home, travel or health details, and the declarations you make.
- Documents you upload: identity documents, vehicle registration and other supporting documents.
- Communications: e-mails, WhatsApp messages, chat conversations and their attachments.
- Policy and claim records, and payment references.
- Technical data: access logs, device and browser information.
3. Why we use it
- To produce quotes and place your risk with an insurance company.
- To issue, renew and manage your policies, and to handle claims.
- To verify your identity and meet our legal and regulatory obligations as a broker.
- To answer your questions and provide support across e-mail, WhatsApp and chat.
- To secure the Service and improve it.
4. Who we share it with
We share what is necessary with the insurance company underwriting your policy, with payment providers when you pay, and with the service providers who host or operate the Service on our behalf. We also share data where the law or a competent authority requires it. We do not sell your personal data.
5. WhatsApp Business
The Service uses the WhatsApp Business Platform (Meta Cloud API) to send and receive messages. Messages exchanged on WhatsApp are also subject to the WhatsApp Privacy Policy and the Meta Privacy Policy. You can stop this channel at any time by replying STOP or by writing to admin@app.merics.com.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your data for as long as your relationship with Merics lasts, and afterwards for the period required by the applicable insurance, accounting and anti-money-laundering rules. Quotes that never became a policy are kept for a shorter period.
7. Security
We apply technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss or disclosure. Identity documents are stored in a protected area that is not publicly accessible.
8. Your rights
You may ask for access to your data, for its correction, and for its deletion. Deletion is subject to the retention obligations described in section 6 — we cannot delete records we are legally required to keep. See our data deletion instructions for how to make the request.
9. Changes
We may update this policy. The version published on this page, with the date shown above, is the one that applies.
